Stuck in your head?

by Dana Hilmer

Even the most ambitious person can find themselves saying "I wish I could just get out of my head!"

It’s easy to kid yourself that you’re making progress because you’ve been exerting tons of energy figuring out your next step. But when you’re stuck in your head you are NOT making progress.

You need to get out of your head and into action.

If you find yourself getting stuck in analysis paralysis you may be convincing yourself that you’re not "ready" - that you don’t know what you’re doing yet - and that you have more to figure out.

Here’s the truth - there is a big difference between problem-solving and always being in "figure it out" mode.

When you’re stuck it’s the later and you may find that you often stay stuck because you’ve bought into the idea that you need to know what you’re doing before you begin.

Sound familiar?

The solution… Start before you’re ready.

You need to start. It’s in the doing that you will figure it out. It may feel overwhelming at first but with each step you will learn and you’ll be armed with more information for the next step.

Commit to taking a step, even a tiny step, every day that moves you closer to your goal and to being the person you want to be. We call this "pushing the pebble forward" and it’s the surest way to change that sticks.

What is one step that you will commit to today?
